On May 1, 2010, the Carlisle Country Market opened its doors to the smiles and excitement of hundreds of eager customers. Local media, community leaders, and the Greater Carlisle Chamber of commerce helped to celebrate the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
After several months of seeing nothing but closed doors, the loyal customers from all over the greater Carlisle area were able once again to reunite with their beloved market. The opening was celebrated perhaps even more by the vendors, who had put so many hours into getting the market up and running again and once again had a place to call their home.
Getting to this moment was no easy journey.
The Carlisle Country Market: Farmers Market and Specialty Shops, LLC. is organized as an independent co-op of investing vendors. The members of the Carlisle Country Market manage the establishment with the utmost professionalism and class with a firm commitment to stand on their own.
Not once during the rehab process did the market receive the help of a single government dollar, and this is something they are very proud of.
“We have given the greater Carlisle community something they have loved for years,” said Lisa Dymski, owner of the Gaslight Bake Shoppe and treasurer of Carlisle Country Market. “The reopening of the market is thanks to the dedication and hard work of many of the market investors and from the gracious commitment of several community members.”
